That's an old business trick... People always want stuff for free, no matter what it costs. For example, there was this fisherman that was trying to sell fly-fishing lures. He was charging a couple of dollars for each lure, but then shipping was free. Unfortunately he didn't sell many lures because people thought that $2 was too expensive for a lure. So he changed tactics and offered free fishing lures (just pay $5 for shipping and handling). Not only were people paying more in total, but he was also getting many more customers, just because people saw the "free" offer and fell for it hook, line and sinker (ok, I just had to...)

why does the internet offer so many offers to make money-but they make you work too hard to get it or they break the money into bits at a time.

That's interesting about the lures. But yeah that happens all the time. As long as there's a big FREE sign people will come running.

The service provider is charging you for the service rendered to get you there. I can say a show is "free" me to see, but if the distance is very far for me the value is not so free anymore. The fee that I have to pay for Internet is extensive, but I still see this as a critically valuable tool that I cannot do without anymore.
