to me i prefer foreign vehicles like honda and toyota they sure do last longer and are alot better then amaerican made cars

I think that until the economy gets better, the government will continue to intervine.  Besides people need jobs now.

I've had foreign and American cars.  They are all the same.  This isn't some mom and pop type corner store that if they go out of business oh well?  This involves billions of dollars and possibly millions more people out of work.  So yes help them so we don't end up worse than the Great Depression.  I don't think any of us want to see that repeated.

I hate to bail out the car companies, but I guess it needs done. I am guessing that the smartest guys out there aren't working in banking or the auto industry anymore. It is really a sign of consumer rebellion. Detroit ignored the revolt in the late 1970's and it nearly killed them, but instead of make more economical cars they spent their money convincing us we didn't want them. Now we pretty much have to have them and Detroit is completely unprepared. I figure a 30 year warning should have been enough and I'd just as soon let them go under, unfortunately there are a lot of folks who depend on those companies and I'd hate for them to be the ones to pay for the mistake.

Another example of socialism. I don't what is worst, an administration that put us in the mess or one that is trying to control every aspect of our lives.

It is kind of funny how Fox news started calling it socialism the second the government wanted something back for their money. It was ok last November for the government to give the banks a bunch of money, but when the government wanted stock in exchange for the money all of a sudden it is socialism. If the banks and car companies had gone to another financial institution and asked for this money they would very likely have to give up stock or sell assets, it doesn't sound much like socialism to me sounds an awful lot like capitalism. The reason everyone is shouting socialism is they are are pretty sure these ventures will fail and they can scream about the debt the tax payers will get stuck with. There is a small chance that some of these stocks could recover in which case the government could actually make a profit. The real issue is that the government wants common stock rather than preferred stock, common stock of course being voting stock which gives them the right to make decisions, when the companies would "prefer" they stayed silent.
