I rarely use checks, mostly just for bills. For my car payments, although they do have on-line banking, unless you own some other account with them (eg checking or savings account) they charge a $10 "convenience fee" if you pay on-line or by phone and use your debt card. Thus I try to always pay that loan via check.

Most of my expenditures are done with a debit card, credit card, or online bill-pay.  I still use checks to pay the utilility bill and make my church contributions.

I still use checks for some bills, a local grocery store, and when I need to pay friends back for group things and I don't have the cash on hand.  I still like to play with the float you can get with checks - letting the money stay in my account while the check clears vs the money being instantly debited with a debit card.  That's also why when I use my debit card, I use it as a signature transaction vs PIN transaction - my money will stay in the account a couple extra days as the transaction routes the credit card processing vs EFT processing.

This would be important for anyone with an interest bearing account - leaving your money in the account as long as possible to squeeze out every fraction of a cent possible.

I pay every bill online. Last time I used a check was for this seamstress who didn't accept credit or debit.

I'm 25 I use checks for bills like rent but I mainly have checks because I'm a forgetful person and I lose my debit card all the time and when the bank's closed a check can save you in that situation!!  ;)

About the only time I write a check is at the BMV and for school pictures or sports fees.  It is debit card for me most of the time.

I'm still using checks I bought about ten years ago.  With online banking and debit cards, I write checks for my rent (office) because they surcharge you to do it online.  I also write them for groceries rather than use a debit card because writing the check jogs me to note it in the check register to balance my checkbook.  So I only write maybe 2-4 checks per month, a lot less than I did when I bought the checks.

Checks and credit cards. Really just depends. Don't use debit cards.

I use fewer and fewer checks all the time.   I use my debit card as much as possible and also direct withdrawal.

I try to use cash/debit card for everything anymore.  If I know a place charges 75 cents for swiping a card, I'll just use cash.

Do you still use checks im 21 years old and have never written a check because i feel i just use cash and debit cards i dont want to pay to get checks. I feel its useless but what about you guys do you still use ?

Since you are still young there is now reason for you to use checks so I can understand where you are coming from.  As for me, and since I am much older than you and have many more responsibilities, there are times when a check must be written.  I will admit though, writing a check has become minimal!!
