Wanting something so bad it hurts.
« on: January 13, 2013, 11:18:42 am »
Has anyone ever wanted something so bad your heart begins to ache.  My daughter was recently diagnosed with anorexia.  There is nothing more that I want than to see her plump up and be more herself.  I've tried being patient, we've tried outpatient therapy, I've tried getting mad and frustrated (That makes it worse) I've tried giving her the control rather taking it away and it seems there is nothing that is working for her.  My fears for her are literally breaking my heart.

I wish you and your daughter all the best.  It's not easy to have a sick love one.  I will keep your family in my prayers.

Sorry about this women are always so concerned about their weight makes it difficult for young girls. I 've seen stories about this disease  and the part that is frustrating is they'll show a girl who is maybe 100lbs and she hates to look in the mirrow cause she thinks she is fat .makes no sence to those looking at her .They also hate food and feel down if they eat one slice of bread .so hope you can get help for her best to you

i kind of understand how she feels weight has always been a problem its like a roller coaster you never chose to get on. I've taken another point of view to my weight situation i lost 30 lbs and gained it back my outlet to feeling better is exercise because i know its a healthy way to get how i want to look just give her different options to why shes doing it if she wants to look better or feel skinnier exercise will get you there in no time and give you a good image of yourself it boosted my self esteem a lot good luck on your problem hope everything works out

That is so sad how society places such an emphasis on being thin and pretty that it affects people this way.  I hope that she will ask for some help or reach out to someone in some way.

Have you tried putting it in God's hands?  God can take care of it far better than you can.  I know it hurts, but have you tried taking her to a psychiatrist?  Maybe it is something she don't feel you will understand.  Good luck to you.

Thank you to all wishing the best for my daughter and our family.  She is under the care of a psychiatrist through a local counseling center.  She has only met with him twice.  It seems all of the social workers do the counseling with the kids and he just monitors things/meds.  There is a place an hour away from our home that will treat her as an out patient.  Problem is the back of of my car is ready to snap in two...it's gonna be expensive to fix and I don't exactly have the extra funds to a. get that done right away and b. have the extra gas to get her there every day.  I took her to her pediatrician and asked him what I do next and he said, as a Dr. there is nothing more I can do for her...these days it's out patient therapy this and partial therapy that.  10 years ago he said he'd already have her admitted.  It's just so darn frustrating.  Medical marijuana...??? I live in Illinois and haven't heard if that's been passed here.  She's only 14 already fighting one addiction so I'm not sure that would help her out or just create another problem.
