I have to agree with everyone else that are stating it is nothing to be worried about.  As I mentioned in a similar topic I personally know 3 people that were diagnosed with the swine flu. Sure they were sick and miserable for a week or two, but they didn't die.  All three are back to being healthy and happy.  The main people who have to be afraid of the H1N1 are the very young, the very old and those that in under-privelaged areas of the world.  The vast majority of us have little to fear. And personally, I wish the media would quit making this out to be as big as they are.

I think the media is using scare tactics to try to see how many people they can influence. In our area, we have some sort of flue or cold going around, but it doesn't seem too severe. Yet everybody is running in for Chest x-rays to make sure they don't have pneumonia or other "complications from the swine flu that could cause death." I work as an x-ray tech and I know that we are getting a much heavier workload than usual, and as most of the people that come in aren't to sick, all I can chalk it up to is fear. I think if people use common sense tactics like handwashing, this flu wouldn't be any more of a risk than any other viruses that spread around at this time of the year.

Two of my children have had (one still does) the swine flu.  It is just like the flu, only with a harsh cold attached to it.  I am watching them more closely, to make sure no breathing problems occur, but other than that there's not much of a difference from the regular flu.  I agree with many of the posts...I think the news blows everything up so people tend to freak out more - but if it makes people wash their hands, cover their mouths, and stay home from school/work until better, than I guess it worked in a good way also?!  I have 6 kids and my parents live with us, I was concerned about my 70 year old father, because he is not in the best of health...I was told not too worry because he was most likely already exposed to it during the last outbreak.  We now have hand sanitizer everywhere in the house, in our cars, and in my purse.  I have also bought many and donated them to my kids class rooms.  Take care everyone!!

I don't think we can sit around panicking about what might happen, and when we might get sick.  It's important to maintain good health, and one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs is good handwashing.  So get to the sink...and scrub!

What differences have you seen between the regular and swine flu? More or less severe? Body pains? Heavier coughing? Dizziness? etc?

They say a very high fever, more than you would have with the flu is a good indication. The only people that should really worry about swine over normal flu are those with weakened immune systems/pre-existing respiratory conditions. This is just common sense to protect yourself from anything airborne.

There are perfectly healthy people getting sick and dying from this.

Everyone gets sick. It doesn't mean that you are going to die.  A few will, but that is true of everything that goes around every year.  Next year it will start all over again with something else.

Swine flu has been around in my town now and we live in a small community of less than 18,000 people. So when the whole situations reached even here you could see why people might be a little uneasy. Most people don't got good knowledge on it though so they assume things that are incorrect about the swine flu leading them to hysteria and what not. Personally it just seems like the flu to me. I am sick right now and for al I know I have this 'swine flu' thing, but I'm just fine, so obviously it isn't anything as serious as they make it. No need for Obama to declare national emergency!
