Do you think reality television has gone too far?
« on: January 09, 2013, 06:58:52 pm »
I think they overexceed their limits. Alot of people answering this question are going to say that you don't have to watch it, wrong...because that stupid bra advertisement is on every single channel. Where does it end, and do people in America have any morals at all? Is there anything left to discretion?

I don't watch reality television as much as I did last year.  If I want reality, I just look around at what real people are dealing with in real life.

I have never watch a single episode of (toxic, low level sleazy?) Reality TV so I don’t give a damn about it. I know for sure I’m not the type of audience their show and bra advertisement is looking for even though I wear one. So who cares? ;D

Yes much to far! I believe it has left a spike in everyone to have their own drama in their own lives making it impossible to live with some folks. This is very heartbreaking to me in very close family issues. And we rarely watched any reality shows!

It's sad that is seems there's no limit on what some chose to give up for a buck.

I think reality TV is just another cheap way to make a buck.  You don't need good writers or talented actors.  Remember when there were 50,000 talk shows on?  You didn't need good writers or anything for those shows either.  But people watch.  The sad thing is people pay to have cable in order to watch reruns or poorly produced shows.  And we are still subjected to advertising.

They have really gone to far. A new show coming on called Double Diva where a lady fits other women for bras. Really is this what entertainment is coming to.

In some cases yes, the Bra show is... I don't now what to call it but shame on them.  Television is suppose to be for entertainment and that is what I look at reality shows for, just entertainment and I don't beleive all the crazy stuff.

Is this what lynnc35 was talking about? For a while I could understand what an ad for bras and reality TV had to do with each other....

I guess it depends on the reality TV show... Something like this may be over the top, esp. if it's like Spike TV that is the network hosting it, although if it's OWN or Lifetime maybe they're catering to helping women and so not trying for the sleaziness of it. But there are other reality shows that I think are pretty good. The Amazing Race (the #1 reality show) is always fun to watch and is even somewhat educational in seeing all of the different cultures around the world. Other good reality shows are the talent-based competitions (eg American Idol, America's Got Talent, The Voice, etc.). I think the ones about relationships (eg The Bachelor(ette), The Real World, Jersey Shore, etc.) can often times go overboard. But those I usually don't bother to watch anyway.

Yup...Oxygen network ( a station which originally claimed to provide quality/positive programs for women) had the nerve to produce a show called "Shawty Lo: All My Baby Mama's" but people petitioned against that buffoonery. I don't know if they are going forward with the show cause I haven't been following the story.

Since i don't watch it have had a few tell me oh you sjut have to watch it, Bull. And we wonder what has gotten into our kids.

It is a free world. It is a paid ad. If you do not like the ad, just change channels like you do for other TV shows you do not like.
