Can you fall asleep as soon as you turn the lights off?  Because i can't.  Children are just little people, they need to unwind too.

Valium...lol just kidding of course. I have always let my son watch a half hour of TV at bedtime. After that he falls asleep fast.

while they're laying down, tell them about your day in a boring low voice. seems to do the trick for my sibs.

I had the same problem with my oldest daughter. We put her toddler bed in our room right next to our bed. After a while we moved her bed into the opposite corner of the room.  When she adjusted we moved her bed into her room and would sit with her for a couple min till she was settled in.  It takes a while, hopefully someone else can suggest a faster idea. I did work though. good luck

Both of my babies relax with a warm bath using bedtime bath and lotion.  After their bath, the 2 year old has a small snack and the baby has his final bottle and both are down for the night!

lol omg i read all the replies and i laughed about the whiskey and the bendrly( i know its misspelled sorry)  my  family has told me to lay my daughter down at a certain time .......say like 9  at night .. for a week and get her used to going to bed at the same time every night and she would get used to that certain time .... and i have to admit .... when she gets sleepy.. lol look out! she is grumpy and ill natured if she doesnt get to bed at 9pm at night......... when i started puttin her at bed at 9 she would pitch a royal screamin match.... i wanted to pick up her so badly but i didnt i let her cry until she fell asleep on her own .... that took her at least 10 or 20 minutes to do and bam! out for the nite ..... now... i dont have any problems with her ..........peace
