The NRA
« on: December 21, 2012, 03:42:11 pm »
Who, besides me think that the NRA is off the wall.  Wanting to put armed guards in schools, how crazy is that?  There are already armed guards in many schools across the country, there was even an armed guard at Columbine when that shooting took place.  I don't know what the answer is, but putting armed guards in schools seems a little out there.       :peace:

I dont think they are off the wall at all. In fact I think it is a good idea. Someone needs to be there to protect our children from the crazies in this world.

Schools in my town all ready have SRO officers assigned by the city police.  No reason to waste more tax dollars to hire security.

Yes I agree with you Dauna, the NRA just does not want to take any responsibility and own up to the fact that guns DO kill people.  I don't care if someone has a gun, but they need to be trained, they should have a criminal check, maybe a psych check, (I know that idea won't go well with most people), and then, why is it even possible for anyone to own a semi-automatic rifle?  They're good for nothing.  You can't hunt with them.  Also, people need to keep those guns locked up so no little kid can accidentilly shoot a sibling.

Don't even get me started on the NRA and their leader. That was a very disturbing press conference.

No one, I repeat NO ONE needs to own a high powered assault weapons.  Military and police I'll make exceptions for.  What's the purpose of having 5,10 guns in your house?  The answer is not to put armed guards in every school.  Is the NRA willing to pay for this?  I don't think so.

I totally agree with the NRA - guns don't kill people do.  Until we turn from our wicked ways we will continue to get more violent.  We must repent and seek God or evil will continue to grow

I just took a survey about the NRA and banning guns today. I think the NRA should not be pointing fingers at the motion picture and game industry alone. The NRA also should take full responsibility too. Talk about shifting the blame unto others and not taking the plank off their own eye! :angry7:

The guards in Columbine also saved lives. It's not the cure, but I wouldn't call a measure that could potentially save lives crazy.

i think there are other measures to take as opposed to just surrounding our children with armed guards, sounds like a bad futuristic movie :angry7:

I did not see the NRA press conference.  But a concern that I have are some of these games that people are playing on electronic devices.  Not saying they are all evil, but there is so much exposure in our world that it is desensitizing people of all ages.  I was apalled at a game I saw a 5 year old playing in the family.  I asked someone "is he supposed to be playing that game?" and the answer was "oh yeah, that one is ok, it is mild"  I don't think  it was "mild" what I saw! The use of the guns and shooting people and no repercussion - the games are just to shoot and kill and survive.  I thought, what is his perception of reality at 5 as he is growing up? And I know that some of the games are even used in military training.  If powerful enough for a game to improve our military in war, what does that do to impressionable civilians that don't also get the training that points out the repercussions, cause and affect, judgment of the action and the results of that action . . .
