learning from other people
« on: December 21, 2012, 06:56:13 am »
Sometimes you can learn something from an older person [ your parents, relatives or older friends]
and sometimes you can learn from someone younger.
Some people resist it or don't think it's possible.
There are times when you watch other people going through a difficult situation or a situation that is working out for someone else.
We always seem to be learning.

I agree.  If we can observe what others experience, as a result of their actions, we might not make the same mistakes.

There are certain individuals; however, that need to touch the hot stove to learn from their own experience.  I guess the important thing is that....

eventually we all learn in whatever way is best for each of us.
Have a great day!

Yep, and there are some who touch the hot stove repeatedly and never learn!  We have a daughter that used to be like that but luckily enough God placed a Guardian Angel on her shoulder at a very young age, otherwise she wouldn't still be with us.

I think we all have something to learn and most people have something to teach.  That's how the world rolls, if you know what I mean. :peace:

I have always enjoyed being around the older people and listening to their stories. I often wished i had had a taperecorder around my grandpanrents and aunts uncles. Boy the stories. Also you are never to old to learn something new. This past week i learned how to make my own laundry soap and it works great, smells great and really cheap.

If you have at least a little bit of humility and can take a little time to listen, then I agree that you can learn something from everyone.  In my opinion, it has much less to do with what the other person has to offer than it does with your own attitude and posture towards others.

I have always found that having an open mind helpswith understanding others. You may not always see things fromtheir side of the fence, but if you wlaked in their shoes, you would understand things can be different. I don't think that I will ever use the phone for anything else but talking. I must say that my life does not revolve around my phone or my computer, but I can see how the younger generation can lock out of what is in front of them. Their world is so full of safety issues that just did not exist when I grew up. I guess they feel safe without personal contact. I try to understand, even though I don't get it.

In my opinion, we can really learn a lot from other people's mistakes.

I think it is good to wake up every morning with two goals; 1) to learn something from someone and 2) to teach someone something. I'm 57 years old and I learn something everyday.

And the other side of that is who is watching and learning from us.  We often don't think about the effect our actions may have on someone else ::)

I once heard that people are like plants.  If a plant stops growing, it is dying.  So it is with people - if you aren't growing, you're dying.  You're never done.

This is a part of life. People including pets and animals don’t just show up into our life by accident, but for a reason well suited to our life’s lesson. We are what we attract. We can count on our own pets as teachers too. Whether the experience is positive or negative, we are constantly learning every day.  :peace:
