Does Anyone Have Any New Years Eve Traditions???
« on: December 17, 2012, 09:45:27 pm »
i know this is skipping ahead a bit but every year my family used to get together and the kids would play monopoly all night and drink sparkling grape juice and the adults would play euchre and drink wine and then everyone would watch the ball drop and eat sour kraut and I was wondering if anyone else's family had any crazy traditions like that??

Years ago, I went to some fancy holiday events with friends at various hotels.  Some years, we celebrated at bars.  Most years, though, the holiday has been celebrated at home with "New Year's Rockin' Eve".  I used to think the years I was sitting in front of the TV were pretty pathetic, but anymore, I would rather be home.

We usually stay home and have a party so no one drinks and drives.  We have many house guests that night.  However this year will be spent taking care of my daughter.  She is having surgery that day to repair her ACL that she tore in a basketball game.  She is an amazing player and out for the whole season and softball too!   :-  I'm still thankful we are all together.  It could be A LOT Worse!!!

Chinese food and siiting around waiting for the ball to drop. We usually get some streamers for the kids to play with while they are waiting.

Other than the normal family stuff we usually countdown and shoot a gun at midnight.

We used to have a family party at our house with food and drinks.  I remember having a shrimp ring and sparling wine (non-alcoholic for kids, of course).  Close to midnight, the older folks would turn on a New Year's Eve show and watch the ball drop on TV.

We don't have a New Year's Eve tradition, unless you count having a tradition of doing something different each year. This year, we're going to a party that lasts all night at a friend's house.

You can find me on Youtube!
