Okay let it out, SCREAM out several times to let out the frustration. This is like a theraphy of the mind. I hope that your mother will keep getting better each day. With a positive mind and Prayer we know that she will be getting better in the year 2013.

Go ahead and scream. You might think about what's called respite care. That way you can get a break and get someone else can take care of her. Even if she is in a nursing home, you need a break.

Yes...yell, scream, cry...it's okay to let your emotions go.  It's very stressful having to take care of our parents.  Such a role reversal when they've taken care of us for so long.  If at all possible try and get a nurse to come in a few days a week..even one day a week to give you some time to get out and get that privacy and time alone.  To shop.  To walk in the park.  To go to chapel and cry...whatever it may be.  Know that there is your FC family to reach out to as well.  (well at least some of us)

Its good to let it out. My prayers are with you and your family. I am a stroke survivor. I have in the past 4 years started having seizures. I know what it is like. Be strong and may she pull out of it. God bless.

So sorry to hear about your mom. I went through this with my mom. It is not easy and I don't think it ever gets any easier. Just hold onto whatever faith you have. Best wishes.

Do you have someone who comes in and takes care of your mom? If so, how many hours? You must carve out some time for yourself. It is very important that you take time for yourself. If your mom has nurses coming in, plan to take time for yourself. Go out to dinner, go see a movie...just something to break the stress of you looking out for her. There are home care companies out there that will provide what is called respite care.

I heard a touching story one day. This couples child was in bad need of medical attention. They were told there was no such hope for him. Some total stranger overheard the family talking and approached them. He had put on a white coat like a doctor. He told them that he would try and help and the outlook wasnt too good. The family agreed. He went and did surgery on the little boy. I think it 6 months later and you cant even tell that the little boy was even sick. noone knows who that guy was or if he was really even a doctor. He was angel that helped that boy. We still have miracles and angels out there. Dont give hope. God bless.

I can't imagine what your going threw right now. Let me just say this no matter what happens your going to make it threw this you and the rest of your family. I know its easier for anyone to say because we are not in your shoes but I truly believe that god wont put no more on you than you can handle, rather you believe in him or not im praying for you because prayer changes things and makes you stronger in the process no matter how long it takes it will get better it just has to please dont stop believing that it will. My mother has been diagnosied with high blood pressure for three years now and has to take medication for it so Im just as nervous because its still pretty high and what most ppl dont know about high blood pressure is its a very sneaky sickness that can cause strokes heart attacks and heart and brain conditions that can turn into what we all dont want to happen so I completely understand. My grandfather died from this 14 years ago so I do understand so please hold on and keep the faith It will be ok and please keep us posted on whats going on ok. stay strong and dont be afraid to cry let it out it only makes you stronger to release all that pain rather its anger or sorrow.

I always do believe that there is no powerful thing in the world other than a faithful prayer. And the more it will be more powerful if many will pray. I pray for the fast recovery of your mom.

I am so sorry about your mother.  Strokes run in our family; both my mother and her sister experienced strokes that left them unable to take care of themselves so I know what you are going through.  Be sure and take some time to do something for yourself each day, even if it is just for a short time.  Prayer and meditation on scriptures are great help; memorize a verse that is especially meaningful to you.  Read a book (or short stories if you are squeezed on time) that offers escapism-- I like science fiction because it takes you to other "realities" and engages your brain as well as your emotions, but not everyone likes science fiction-- whatever works for you.

Get a good finger pulse oximeter to measure her blood oxygen saturation levels so you know how much oxygen she needs. Nonin is a good brand.

Does she snore, is she overweight? Sleep apnea can cause heart attacks, stroke, etc. Has she had a sleep study done?

Sorry to hear about your mom.  My mom had a mini stroke and heart attack too.  She was a heavy smoker and has since stopped smoking.  We are hopeful with the life changes she is making that she will be around for many years to come!
