Thanks Sherry, I kinda got that part. but a friend and I was talking about different sayings and we were wondering like what does making a bed and laying in it have to do with anything...I know sounds dumb but we were just pondering things lol...like step on a crack and break your mothers back, hmmm just dumb things we wonder why they are said...I guess we really need to get a life lol

I can picture some kid who makes a messy bed or say he eats in bed and spills and then goes to his mom and says, "Maaaaawwwwwwwm! You need to clean my bed."  She says, "You made you bed that way, now you have to sleep in it."  I can relate to that mom.

Suffer the consequences of one's actions. For example, It's unfortunate that it turned out badly, but Sara made her bed and now she must lie in it. The earliest English citation for this oft-repeated proverb is in Gabriel Harvey's Marginalia (c. 1590): “Let them . . . go to their bed, as themselves shall make it.” The idiom alludes to times when a permanent bed was a luxury, and most people had to stuff a sack with straw every night for use as a bed. There are equivalents in French, German, Danish, and many other languages.

It means if you have a bad situation in your life that was caused by your own behavior and decisions, and you were aware that your behavior and decisions were wrong at the time that you did them, then you must bear the consequences that result.

Example: You break into your neighbors house to steal whatever you can, they come home and catch you in the act. In the course of you trying to get away, you get beat up a little as the homeowner pounces on you to hold you there for the police. So not only do you get clobbered by the homeowner, but you also get a criminal record and some jail time. In this case, there is no pity for you, because you created your own situation, and you must live with it.

I think that it stems from the fact that we all have a certain way of doing things and we all have a certain amount of care that we put into what we do and what we choose in our life. We have to deal with those choices.
BTW..hope that you are doing good health wise. Just wanted to let you know that you are still in my prayers and that I think about you often. God bless you.
