Ipod will make you deaf!

Did you know that Ipods are really bad for you ears.  Although you may not realize it for every 30 minutes that you listen to your Ipod on full volume it gives you permanent hearing loss.  Its not a lot of hearing loss that you experience but over time everything will build up and leave you deaf!

If i listened to my Ipod on full volume my brain would run out of my ears. Of course I am not using the stock ear buds, can't stand those pieces of crap, bought some mid priced Sony in ear buds, I don't have to turn them up so loud and they block external noise for a better music experience. i would like to get some Shure ear buds, but I don't have Shure ear bud kind of money.

Anything too loud in your ears are bad for your ears.

I useally listen to music at less then half of the volume on my ipod. If people turn it up any louder then they are just stupid.

Yes, any Ipod volume would be bad for your ears if you listen to them at maximum volume, but anything at max volume is bad for your ears.

I usually listen to mine on about 1/10 volume cause I dont want to damage my ears and I like to still know what is going on around me.

Yeah, from what I understand it's prolonged high volume exposure that really damages you.  So a loud concert once in a while isn't too harmful, but even medium-loud music in headphones for extended periods is bad.

I recommend noise-isolating or noise-cancelling headphones/earbuds, they block out ambient sound so you can listen to the music at a low volume and still hear it well.  I have had these earbuds for years, they're great:

You can usually find them for $75-100 online, and they last forever so it's not a horrible investment when you consider how many pairs of mediocre headphones you'd buy over the years.  Plus, the hearing loss benefits.

That is mind blowing. Almost 75% of kids these days I would say own some form of mp3 player and if you think elders today have problems hearing, just wait until they are old. I feel bad for the kids in those days and their parents and grandparents won't be able to hear anything.

Anything at high volume, or close to your ear drums will cause serious damage.
