I think the best experience during holidays is to havbe family around and enjoying each other. My personal experience is thyat it helps to bind everyone closer and increase love and care among the members.

I don't think they are growing out of grandma and grandpa. It is just things that interest them that grandparents have to offer. Get to know what they like and inform yourself on it. My Father when he was alive he made sure that his grand kids were he interest of the things they were interested in. Now my Grandpa he just gave money.

I had a wake up call this holiday my girls told me that they don't like Turkey; so I'm looking at them wondering all this time that I was cooking turkey what happen to it.. I was told well mom you spent so much time in the kitchen we didn't want to hurt your feelings so we gave the turkey to the dog over the days...wow But with all that being said we have come to a common ground that for Christmas we will not have a traditional meal..so my girls will come up with the menu and mom will cook..What matters is that we are all together ;D

My family is spread out from east coast to west coast, all of us have kids of our own, so we never get together anymore for Christmas. My daughter and I do holidays as just the two of us and as much as I love my family, it cuts the stress a lot not having to travel or find money for gifts for a zillion people, etc

We take my daughter  and her family gifts on Christmas Eve. Then we do not have to go anywhere on Christmas day, it works out so much better.

My son and family are coming but don't know when, yet. They go to Oklahoma for Christmas and visit me before or after. My brother usually comes on Christmas day and we meet at the nursing home to see our mother.

I miss spending Christmas with my parents.  They are both deceased and the lost is felt everyday.  But I do remember the good times we all had when they were alive because we all had dinner at my parents home, although we all had dinner fixed at our own homes.  My mom always bought presents for all of us plus the grand kids and there are 11 of us.
