Where did you get this list?  Some of it makes since because it is pretty easy to steal a bike etc.  But I can't help but question the list since money wasn't in the top ten.

Its a lot harder to steal money sense people keep money safe without thinking of these other things until its too late. Also, most of these things stolen are probably sold.

You forgot to add the most important:  HUMAN LIFE.  It happens everyday and sometimes many times during a week.

I didn't realize there where vampires running around sucking the life out of people. Murder, which is what I think you are trying to refer too, isn't as much stealing as it is vandalism (which is of course destroying someone Else's property, and in the case of murder that someone else is literally that someone else, and that someone else does own themselves).

It's a sad state that there is even a list of the top 10 items stolen.  The crime in this country is getting completely out of hand.  This is one reason we have a security system in our home.  It's sad we have to pay over $350.00 a year to have it monitored for our protection and safety.  I remember as a kid growing up no one in our neighborhood ever locked doors (in daytime) and all the moms watched out for all the neighborhood kids and we knew we could go to any house for anything.  What a difference a few decades make   :sad1: :sad1:

Last time I talked with my dad, he noted the least stolen car in the US was the Toyota Prius - because the parts were so highly specialized, it isn't profitable to steal and sell it for parts (no market).  Can't recall what he said was the most stolen car...

I can understand what would drive some people to steal food or money if they are desperate and hungry (doesn't make it right, but I can understand that motivation).  However, when you are stealing things like lawn mowers (lawn mowers? ...  Really???) - it's either for supporting a drug habit, or gang/peer pressure.  Just sad how low people have let their morals sink ... when you can justify stealing from your neighbors (or strangers).  I applaud those who do struggle through tough times and resist the temptation to steal - hopefully some good will happen in their lives to keep them moving forward.

Like most here I would have thought that cars would be in that list also. The most stolen vehicle would be Honda Accord. Money also because people rob banks and also people do white collar crimes of stealing other's money in many ways. Also Identity should have made the list because there is a lot of Identity theft going on.

Another one that should be on the list is guns. People with common sense usually have them locked up but it is easy for someone to break in and steal them all. Then will go out and sell them to crooks and etc, Then of course the one that is robbed is the one that gets the blame when someone is killed because he had a gun that a crook stole and shot someone. Isn't that a crock. but that is life. The bad guy is innocent, because of someone else.

I would add some digital items to the list.

Stolen - Cable Service..... have you ever "shared" cable?
Stolen - Internet Service
Most people don't think of these as a crime, but they are.

I would think
Stolen - Identity
would start climbing the list.
