Yes.

When a person dies, sometimes their soul will remain in the world of the living, and it is the job of the Soul Reapers (or shinigami) to bring them into the world of the dead. If they do not get this done fast enough, the soul will turn into a monster called a hollow, which they fight and destroy. Quinces (people dressed in white, fights with arrows) are humans who developed abilities to fight hollows, but are unable to send souls into the world of the dead and this interrupts the balance of both worlds. The Soul Reapers killed off most of the Quinces.

I watch it sometimes and that explains it a bit more for me. It was on last night but I missed it. Sometimes when you stop watching it for a little bit and then you jump back into it you can get lost.

One thing I really dislike about Bleach is how the main character (Ichigo) can continue to get stronger, but his friends (Uryuu, Chad) have gotten so weak that it almost makes no sense for them to continue fighting. This same thing happened in Dragon Ball Z.
