Where were you November 22, 1963
« on: November 17, 2012, 03:13:50 pm »
John Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated on Friday, November 22, 1963.  If you were alive that day do you remember where you were?  I know people who were 3 years at the time and can still remember what happened.

I remember exactly where I was.  I was a 7-year old in Elementary School in Brooklyn, New York.  When we found out that JFK was shot dead, they sent all the students home.

I was in my home with an ill daughter who was watching TV in her bedroom.  She sent her little brother out of her bedroom with a note to ask me "what fatal meant" and I was like what is she talking about.  I found out when I went into her bedroom.

My grandfather had just died, and my parents were getting ready to go out of town to be with my grandmother - then the news came on about JFK.  My parents took me to some friends to stay for a couple of days, and I can remember sitting on the floor with their Scottish Terrier, watching t.v. with them, them emotional, and me crying for my grandfather and for JFK.  That was a sad time.

I was at work at my first full-time job.  My husband called me to tell me, and I didn't believe it.  When I found out it was really true, I tried to call him back and the phones were so busy, you were able to get anything.

I was in my mother's womb.  Born in March of 64 - one of those national moments that most of us have made note of.
