Any one working black Friday?

I have never shopped on a black Friday, but guess what! I'm scheduled to work in one of these stores on black Friday.  Anyone else working in a store that is doing black Friday sales?  You don't have to name the company, just a yes or no will do.  Thanks, it will be interesting.

I do not usually go. I usually do not go on Black Friday sales they are crazy people's camp out for weeks on end to get something they don't know was going on sale  I have seen the ad the day before I go online. With you can do at order the same thing. For the sale price so why not do it instead of getting up at at one or 2 o'clock or sleep an hour all night. To get us something we get online for same price and is delivered right to the store in a day or two after the sale when the crazy that people have gone home!

I went shopping once on Black Friday.  I will never do it again.  I learned my lesson!   I definately would not want to work that day.

oh me too what a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter in law is scheduled to work from midnight to 10 am who the hell shops at that hour really people sleep!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I'm off that day but I never participate in the stupidity of that event.  If I just happen to need to go to the store that day I will but I'm not going out of my way to shop on that day and I certainly won't be getting up and standing in line in anyone's store at 3am unless they are giving free money away which they never will.  I don't celebrate Xmas anyway.

I'm not scheduled to work Black Friday, but I'm trying to pick up a shift that day. I know, sounds crazy, but the store I work for doesn't get as crazy as some, and I need the money. We only open an hour earlier, and most of the best deals (although they haven't been as good as before the economy crashed) are gone in the first couple of hours. The rest of the deals are available for the rest of the weekend, and since those are the ones I'm interested in, I can buy them at my leisure. Plus, so far Black Friday is one thing my managers have actually been pretty smart about so far. The year the Wii first came out, we had a huge line before we opened on Black Friday (I wasn't there in the morning, but I saw pictures). To prevent the tramplings, etc. that some stores seem to have every year, the managers held a raffle, and the winners had to present their winning ticket in order to buy their Wii. Too bad safety isn't a bigger priority for some other companies.

Yes.  It shouldn't be so bad this year.  I work at a video rental store.  In the past though I had 2 jobs, both at the mall.  My 21st birthday was on Black Friday and I had to work form 6a-6p between the 2 and then my friends wanted to stay out until 3 for my birthday.  I was sleeping in the car. haha

I am but thank goodness not at a store at a restaurant so I am glad I do not have to deal with a bunch o screaming rude greedy customers !!!

I didn't have to work this past Black Friday, but--I HAVE worked in retail on this Friday in the past.  Not my idea of a good time.  Nothing quite like the warm feeling you get pushing your way through the crowd to get to your store's door to get into work at 5 a.m.  What a lot of dirty looks i got.  "Hello--I WORK HERE."

thanks for your replies.  I did work at a fashion clothing store and some general merchandise.  We were very very busy, but I must say my thanks to all the customers because they were really nice and patient.  I enjoyed it as I like being busy. Anyone else have any comments on working that day, please reply.
