Red Dawn redoux
« on: November 15, 2012, 07:21:54 pm »
"Red Dawn is a 2012 American action war film directed by Dan Bradley and written by Jeremy Passmore and Carl Ellsworth, based on the 1984 film of the same name. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The film centers on a group of young people who defend their hometown from a North Korean invasion.

The remake was announced in May 2008 and went into production in September 2009. The film was originally scheduled to be released on November 24, 2010, but was shelved due to maker Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's (MGM) financial troubles. The invading army was changed from Chinese to North Korean in post-production. FilmDistrict picked up the U.S. distribution rights in September 2011 and set a November 21, 2012 release date."

I'd seen the 1984 version where the Soviets and Cubans were the invading forces and I'm looking forward to the variations in this remake.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Isn't this the New movie where Tom Cruise son will be having his acting debut. I have seen commercials and looks like something of interest to me.

I saw the first one also.  It had Patrick Swayze, Lea Thompson, and I think Charlie sheen was in too.  It was a good movie.  I sometimes think though that remakes aren't as good as the originals.  Just my opinion.   :peace:

I saw the original.  Thought it was OK.  I might watch the new one eventually, despite it getting some really bad reviews.

I saw the Original Red Dawn & it was okay but a Remake?! I saw the commercials & I think it's going to tank in the box office. I already don't like the lead character, he talks like a cave man! LOl. I'll wait when it gets on regular tv. ;D

I saw the original Red Dawn w/ Patrick Swayze.  I really enjoyed that one.  The re-make didn't seem all that appealing to me....maybe I'll just wait for it to come on Netflix.

I wasn't a big fan of the first one and don't have plans to see the second.  Just not my cup of tea.

I just saw something about this the other day because I noticed that Josh Peck who was a Nickelodean star from Drake and Josh is in it.  I was surprised to see him in it because I think of him as more of a comedic actor, so it will be interesting to see how he does.
