Some of there stuff is cheaply made and falls apart. Most of they bargains are not really cheaper than grocery stores when you have a close look at what your getting. So no I don't think Walmart will take over anything except selling bad items.

I agree.  Ever since Sam died, the corporate officers have decided to signficantly increase prices while keeping merchandise quality so low that it's most cost-effective to shop at traditional grocery stores or even farmer's markets.  Sam had a good business plan which took advantage of practical economics, (price lower, sell more as opposed to price higher, sell less).

I agree with that.

Oh no, the 'zombie apocalypse' must be drawing nigh for that to occur!
 :o
Ha ha!  It's already drawing nigh for the Twinkies closing down, too!  I guess we should record a rare agreement here, lol!

I refuse to shop there.  Too many cheap goods from china and anyone I've ever talked to that worked there said they treat their workers poorly.

No thanks.

everybody shops there i think they will take over the world! lol  :o
Have you ever shopped elsewhere, you can't find any materials made in USA anymore. It's not just Wal-Mart. Go to Macy's and see what you can find made in USA. I went to Kohls, JC Penny's an tried to purchase clothes made in USA but, I found a shirt that I saw in Wal-Mart that I would have paid $10 at WalMart the cost was $25 at JC Penny's - Identical shirt made in Pakistan. All the clothing outlets are doing it. We don't make anything here anymore. I like to go to different stores and do comparison shopping and you would be surprised at a identical item could vary from one store to another.

You're right, not too much is made in the USA these days.  It still doesn't change the fact that I disagree how they treat their workers.

You're all mostly right. However, if you look, you can still find a few USA made products even in WalMart. I went there just last weekend and bought a set of 18 coat hangers for $1.50. Plastic coat hangers. If anything was supposed to be made in China, you'd think it would be that, but they were made in the USA.

I like walmart and shop there often. My daughter worked there and complained
almost every day that it is not as good as most people think.

wait...i never said dont shop there i shop there too.its cheaper and a one stop shop.lol But man, i notice wal-sams is everywhere and sell everthing, not just cheap stuff. if your too good for dollar general too then you must have lots of money.
For those of us who are on a fixed income, we can't afford to shop elsewhere. Of course if Our Government would get their act together and provide manufacturering jobs in this country instead of supporting outsourced labor, we would have Made in USA again and our quality of merchandise would go up along with the number of people working, instead of unable to find a job. We do have to find a solution to the Union problem before our economy can turn itself around. Is there a magic potion that decreases greediness? :dontknow:

I think you are confused. The government should not provide manufacturing jobs at a loss (that they cover using taxes). The free market economy should provide the manufacturing jobs and only if its profitable (which if it wasn't, the free market economy would no start these businesses). The main reason why manufacturing is not profitable in the united states is because of the government regulations and over taxation. And to look too the government for a solution to a problem they caused is ludicrous.

Does anyone remember when walmart first opened?  All of their ad's said they were selling american goods made by americans for americans...

That didn't last long.

I was reading through some of the earlier comments and was curious as to "how" they treat their employees badly as compared to other stores like Target, Aldi, K-mart, etc.
The problems I've seen in ours seems to be a lot of "no communication" between the workers and the management (and between the management) because no one ever knows whats going on and no matter who you talk to, you never get the same answer to a basic question twice.
They also seem to treat customers with more respect than their workers even if that customer has just taken advantage of management or obviously have been drinking or is mentally unstable.  Basically they will be happy to let a customer walk away with free stuff, let them set their own prices or make up their own sales and if they wish to create a dramatic scene in the store---their little feelings matter more than the employee that just has to take their crap...and then the employee gets terminated later so they can hire in more workers at minimum wage.  Sound similar??  HATE the Walmart way.

I shop there because they have the best prices, and they do have some things that are made in the USA,  you just have to check each item!

I usually only buy from walmart that i can't get anywhere else as cheap, I will not buy toys or anything that is made in china if i can get out of it. Also when it comes to food stuff no way jose. Only from usa and canada. once in a while something from mexico that i am sure of. Otherwise will make it or do without it.
