Store Bought or Homemade Pies and Cakes For The Holidays

Store bought? You cheater lol Just kidding lol  It depends on how I feel; if I get to go to my hometown my sisters and I make everything from scratch but if I have to make dinner with the kids I may get a store bought cake or pie if I plan on making other things from scratch.  There are some delicious options available so I don't feel guilty about it.

There is nothing like a home made pie. My mother and mother in law used to make great pies but unfortunately either one can do it any longer. My sister in law usually get pies from a local orchard. They are pretty good but not as good as moms.

I've done both.  Totally depends on what kind everyone wants, whether or not I am also working that day, how rushed I am.

Home made pies are the best. I love making pies and it is a family tradition to make the pies the night before and I generally even start from scratch from pumpkins.

yes it matters, my son is 36 and will not eat a store bought cake at all, i always make them for him on holidays, well christmas only time i see him. but he prefers homemade and so do i

I don't know how long ago that i bought a store bought cake or pie.  I think it was an angel food cake for a special dessert. Although  i will admit to buying pie crust . It is so hard rolling it out anymore. Hands are shot. But still make the fillings.

I like homemade. They just taste like love. lol You work at it to be just right and then your proud of yourself cause it came out so good. The feeling of baking makes ya warm inside.

If you can find REALLY good one and warm before serving, it is alright.
Just do not buy a 'cheap one' that looks bad.
I find the ones at Sams Club are excellent and VERY large

given the choice i would say home made but homemde is not always an option especially when you are going out of town for thanksgiving to the beach.
