Instead of using false belief to improve your life, why not use rational self-empowerment by realizing its you that's in control of your life. Its you that's in control of your destiny. Not some invisible super-daddy in the sky controlling everything around you.

And dont forget to say "God help me"in your last breath or a time of crisis.

Please do not mix atheism with other ideas (Evolution, Cosmology, Abiogenesis, etc). Atheism is simply the disbelief of a magical deity. It has nothing to do, in of itself, with the idea of animals evolving or the origin of the universe. We do not subject ourselves to just one line of thinking for everything we do. Its common for atheist to disagree with one another and be wrong about things. Its normal to be wrong about things. We should be wrong about things. To just stick to one kind of thinking (Ie: Religion) without ever changing how we perceive the universe as we learn more about it is not only unproductive, its dangerous.

The ideas presented here are simply our best understanding of how the universe works. In a few hundred years, our entire understanding of the universe may very well flip upside down. Such is the nature of science. We are not perfect beings, no matter how much you want to believe your god made you that way.

I'm a decent Christian lady and I agree.  It's important that WE are the ones who control our reality.  We make choices in every second even if we choose to be optimistic and make the best of every situation we encounter.

It truly is empowering to know that I don't necessarily give someone like the president of the US credit for my wonderful life and I also don't blame him for my problems.

Gratitude is important because it's an energy, where we set ourselves up to attract more, of what we're grateful for.

Have a great day!

Life:

1.Put GOD first in anything and everything that you think, say and do.
2.GOD heals everything
3.Do the right things
4.However good or bad a situation is, it will change
5.No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up
6.The best is yet to come
7.Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful
8.When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it
9.If you know GOD you will always be happy. So, be happy

I appreciate your list. Doing those things will help you in life. Thank you for posting. It was encouraging to read and really uplifted me. Putting God first in your life brings peace and balance. Some of the pictures in this thread were also uplifting. It's just what I needed to read to today. Thanks again. :)

Such is the nature of science. We are not perfect beings, no matter how much you want to believe your god made you that way.

Those are great points.
I have never believed that I was perfect. I don't think any of us believe we are perfect. We ALL as human beings live every day making mistakes in order to perfect our souls and learn. I once knew a very sweet intelligent elderly woman who was 101 years old who said that we all have something to learn everyday no matter how old we are. This does not mean that we can't believe that we have a higher power looking out for us, comforting us, and providing protection. I not only believe in God. I believe that there is a Mother and a Father God, (Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.") I also believe that I have a spirit guide, guardian angels and  loved ones on the other side looking out for me. I feel that anything that happens in my life is something that God let me write into my chart in order to perfect my soul. Everything happens for the greater good in some way or another. Just because I choose to be a Gnostic Christian doesn't mean that I am perfect or any better than anyone else who believes something else or chooses not to believe at all. God loves us all. This is something I personally  believe because I choose to.

1.Put GOD first in anything and everything that you think, say and do.

That's a recipe for disaster because to do so would mean you'd have to adopt a host of fanatical behaviors.

2.GOD heals everything

AIDS, cancer, disease, disorders, disasters - they're all just god's will, y'all!

Quote
3.Do the right things

That's entirely subjective.

Quote
6.The best is yet to come

There is a fine line between optimism and wishful thinking.

Quote
7.Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful

How about don't spend money on crap you don't need in the first place?

Quote
8.When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it

Oh Jesus Christ...what an unlikely turn of events!

Quote
9.If you know GOD you will always be happy. So, be happy

The bigger and stinkier the pile of B.S. the better, eh?

Agreed, since fanatical behaviors such as the xtian-instigated inquisitions, crusades, witch hunts and forced cultural assimulations have stemmed directly from holding blind faith in superstitious religious beliefs.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.
