Black Friday
« on: November 08, 2012, 03:20:47 pm »
Before you know, Black Friday will be here.  Does anyone get up early and stand in line at 2 or 3 AM waiting for the stores to open their doors?  Do you get any really good buys?  Is fighting the crowds and getting up so early really worth it?

Having worked in the retail industry for some time I can tell you many people will get up early to shop but those are usually the ones that have large families to buy holiday gifts for.  They want to get the most they can for their money and I don't blame them.  Me, on the other hand, wouldn't do this if they paid me!!!!  I think it's ridiculous and there should be a policy that says "the stores will not open until a reasonable time of day" no matter what!!!!  But then again, because I worked retail I guess it took all the fun out of shopping for me!!!! :sad1:

Black Friday will be here pretty soon. I will go to Walmart where special deals will be setup for this day.

I have never done it. Maybe people get great deals but I hate crows and super long waiting lines. I guess I will try it one year but it is for now I am ok with spending more money in my own time, without feeling rush.

I have never been interested in shopping on Black Friday. I don't like shopping when there's crowds and congestion. Also, some people can be rude. To me, it is not worth it.

I haven't gone shopping on Black Friday since 2004.  That was the year my sister drug us out to early morning sales near the fairly large city she lives in.  By lunch, my whole family was in such a bad mood.  I bought nothing.  I can't imagine camping out outside any store on this day.  And now stores will start Black Friday on Thanksgiving.  Terrible Turkey Day?  I'll just stick with the holiday football traditions, myself.

I have not really cared too much for this day. I like to shop in peace so I can look and read about the items I want to buy especially if its a toy or something for my son. I have a habit of reading what's on the care tag of clothes or what they are made of. I'm a cautious shopper and I wanna pay attention to detail and see if this is really what I want. If they have it online with some great stuff I wouldn't mind doing that maybe.

I have gone 2 or 3 times. The last time because a friend convinced me to go with her. I got some pretty good deals but I don't think I will again.  I don't like shopping or crowds enough to go thru it again.

I don't get up crazy early, but my teenage son likes to go so we compromise to find a reasonable hour to start.

I have never shopped on black friday especially early in the morning.
Everyone i have ever talked to that has tried it would never do it again.

I now volunteer at a local thrift shop on Black friday. We are only open for 6 hours that day. our proceeds benfit the local highschool scholarship fund.
Last year was great. We are hoping for an even better year this year.
best of luck to all who brave the weather and the crowds on Black Friday. :peace:
