I think it's fun to have lot's to wear and choose from. If he doesn't want to have to many clothes that's ok.

If you don't have the money and/or space to buy clothes - don't!  However, it sounds like your husband may be a little unreasonable   :dontknow:  I try to only replace clothes instead of adding to my closet  :angel12:

I try not to keep clothes I don't use. If you use your clothes, then they provide value. There is nothing valuable about something just sitting in your closet for 5 years. That space is valuable, so you might as well use it for something that has value.

:)I think that is just a habbit, my mom have alot of clothes, and anything she couldn't fit longer, she has given them to me. Actually, I saw she shopping to much. In this economic trend, we better save money. You know that everything is never known before, even now.

With me its the other way around, I have to many shoes. I found a way to keep my clothes in a seasonal manner of being situated and what I really can do without is clothes that don't fit anymore I give to the thrift stores or donate them to the red bins that sit in the grocery stores parking lot. My shoes on the other hand, my feet never grow anymore lol and so I have so many shoes that I even donated some of them but you get that feeling oh I love these ones and you keep them and wind up keeping so many. I think have 3 of those shelf things that each one stores 20 pairs of shoes, all of them filled and I still have some lined up on the floor of the closet. I haven't shopped for shoes in awhile except for boots. DSW had some for a cheap price so I had to have them for this winter season coming. Plus its my own Christmas gift to myself.

How funny.   I accidentally read your post title as "Closet over lord", which might be just as apropos!  ;)
I'm sorry if my recondite verbiage is a little difficult to understand sometimes.  Using fancy vocabulary really is fun, you should try it!

I don't have much closet space either and quite a few of my clothes are in the basement. I don't have many outfits that fit me anymore and need to lose some weight to fit them, but they are nice so I'm keeping them for future use. I'm not a clothes horse at all and don't wear many outfits so I guess it's also sentimental value. I think that space savers are great and that their helpful with clutter. If you can afford the clothes and have the space for them I don't think it's bad to purchase them. Hopefully you'll be able to come to a happy agreement with him about the situation.

I had lots of clothes from the 70's I make myself go through the closet once a year and get rid of things. This year should finish off the really old things, I hope.

Well sometimes we women do tend to hold onto stuff we don't wear anymore.  Maybe it's time to declutter.  I'd compromise and get rid of just the stuff I know I can do without. I have to give some NICE stuff to the Goodwill myself because I've lost weight and nothing fits.  I decluttered my kids' clothes a few months ago and it was liberating to throw stuff away but at the same time it angered me to see that they'd outgrown clothes they'd barely worn.
