class rings
« on: November 01, 2012, 06:14:48 am »
So how many of you remember how much your high school class ring cost? I do. I got mine back in the 80's and for a 14K petite ring it was only $149. My daughter came home with the booklet from school for the junior class to order their rings. She knows we are limited on funds but we also know how important the ring is. But OMG the cheapest ring and that is just a basic ring with the school mascot and grad year with an ugly stone and not even gold or sterling silver silver was $229. Between my mom and us we were finally able to pick out a real pretty ring for her. She couldn't get the imperial cut and has to due with the flat oval cut and it's not gold, but she did get one pre side (the choir symbol since she has been in choir since she was in 6th grade) and she did get her birthstone and it only cost us $308 with tax. pretty good consedering. :thumbsup: :female: :)

A class ring is a waste of money.

Its not a complete waste, as long as its gold or silver.

I never got one. My husband has one, but he never wears it anymore. It just sits on his nightstand. And he got the ring about a year ago too.

I got mine in 1061 and and it cost me $450.00 I worked for over 3 years saving for it. That is a lot of baby setting, cleaning other psoples house and washing and ironing Plus working at the soda counter in a drug store. Also bought my own clothing and took a senior trip. I had it for 25 years and someone stole it. It had a real emerald in it. Was so upset.

That would make you at least 1,043 years old ... and some kind of 'xtian vampire'?

Was so upset.

As anyone would be, were they that old and cranky.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Mine cost $63.  I got the cheapest one.  I rarely wore it I still have it in my room somewhere.  I hated high school so I  have no sentimental attachment to it.  Just haven't gotten rid of it.  Not sure it's worth anything any way. I only got it for the ring ceremony because everyone else was getting one I guess.  Glad I (my parents) didn't pay a lot of money for that crap.
