It came around after I was married so I dont have much experience. I have some friends who have had good experiences and some who have not.

I have met a few people by internet.  All of them have been very nice...  I play spades online and we met in Texas for a live spades convention.  Was a great time.  I'm married so no online dating for me.  But I have met others that have met online and have gotten married.  You just have to be very careful who you talk to,  there are alot of wackos out there.

i've met some people online, mostly through playing games; nobody that I've dated though. I prefer meeting someone in person first.

Also, I definitely agree with what people have said about being careful using the internet to find dates. You never know who is really sitting on the other side of that computer screen!

I have never even considered internet dating.

I have always felt that when you are not looking seems to be when you meet
the right person ... worked out that way for me and we have been together for
10 years now and going strong.

Online dating is the future, but also a chance of somebody getting hurt or even worse!

Internet dating's not for everyone, especially those who are a bit ignorant of personal space or dating in the first place; there's simple nuances that an inexperienced person probably won't learn to not do their first time around that probably wouldn't happen if they met the person face-to-face first. If we're talking about long-distance dating through the internet, then it's pretty agreeable that it's had about the same success rate as normal dating has; though, this was probably less true when it first started up.

My experience with internet dating is too many men were on them just looking for sex. Most would not admit they were, but after a date or two it became obvious that was all they were looking for.
One guy after dinner asked if he could hug me..Big mistake on my part saying ok. He tried groping me in the restraurant parking lot and told me what he wanted to do to me.. I told him to go home and cool off and I never answered his phone calls after that.

I did it once and the chick I met was off her meds or something.  Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

There's nothing "wrong" with it, but I'm not a huge fan and not going to participate in it

I sure would NOT trust it. There is a LOT of credit card FRAUD and computer hackers. Dating online could be a link for those who want to gwt your personal information.

And some people don't put on an act when they are trying to impress someone for the first time in person?

I met a few people on the Internet many years ago, but so many people misrepresent themselves.  I had the best luck using local services.
