Direct TV phone offer
« on: October 12, 2012, 08:47:50 am »
Admin:  Can you please check to see why I was not credited for this offer?  I stayed on the phone for 24 minutes and was not credited.  Thank you. :crybaby2:

**********UPDATE***********

I retried this offer after 24 hours had gone by, accessed a new telephone number and I again stayed on the phone for 24-25 minutes.......and it did NOT credit. :crybaby2: :crybaby2:

It seems most people were getting the phone offers.

I completed all the phone offers today.  I think the trick is you have to get them to hang-up first.

I had the same thing happen to me as the mc1962 . I was disappointed. But, this is a new offer and sometimes it takes a while to work out the bugs. I haven't had a chance to try any of the other phone offers yet, but I'll give them a try.

@Armand2REP - thanks, I'll give that suggestion a try when I do the others.

I've done mystery shopping phone calls at other places, and usually there's a quick form you fill out after the call to prove you did it. Nothing really much, just the rep's name, the phone number I called from, the length of the call, and maybe one or two other questions asking if the sales rep mentioned certain offers. I was surprised that there was no post call form.

I'm wondering if those of use who didn't get credited all have something in common, like using voip maybe? I made my call with a Magic Jack phone. How about you, mc1962? Were you using a landline, a cell phone, or something through the computer like Vonage or Magic Jack? Maybe we can narrow down a similarity to help work out the bugs.

........
I am using a standard landline.  Maybe they are still working the bugs out of the new offers......I am sure that the Admin is aware of it and will address the situation soon.

I a, using a standard landline.

Oh well, that shot the voip theory down! It was worth a try asking.

There are a few reasons why a call that was long enough still didn't credit.

1)  If you press anything except '1' at the first voice prompt, it wont credit.

2)  Your call length is counted from the moment that you press '1' at the first prompt (which is when you are connected with the actual call center).  If you stay on the initial IVR for any length of time, you cannot count that time as "time on call".

3)  You waited more than 30 minutes before you called the generated telephone number.  The numbers are in a pool and get reassigned periodically.  They only work for 30 minutes from the time you click the "give me a number to call" button.  If you wait too long, you may be connected to a different offer upon calling, or your credit may be misapplied to a different member's account.  Be sure to generate your number only when you're ready to call it.  Please note that once you have called the number, the 30 minute limit no longer applies - you are welcome to stay on the line as long as you wish.

4)  For location-limited offers: regardless of the telephone area code shown on their caller ID when you call, if you reside in a location that the offer doesn't serve, it wont credit.

5)  For location-limited offers: regardless of the location where you reside, if the telephone area code shown on their caller ID is in a location that the offer doesn't serve, it wont credit.

To Admin, Thanks for the additional information. This is really helpful especially when some of us have been skeptical about trying these for fear of being overwhelmed with unwanted calls or junk mail. Am I understanding correctly that these can be done every day? or more than once? that is incredible if that is so. Thanks again for the information and for locating such great opportunities for the FC  family of members, you do a great job of looking out for us.

Admin: I carefully followed all directions but it is possible that maybe rule #4 & #5 (same) may apply, strange for Southern California not to be a target area but anythins possible i guess.

Thanks for that. It was either #2 or #3 that caused me to not get credit. I know I didn't make the call right away... I did things like write down a list of questions to ask, put the dogs in another room so their barking wouldn't distract me, etc. Also, while my call was just over 22 minutes, that included the time of the initial voice greeting "Welcome to DirectTV, home of etc. etc. etc."  That initial welcome greeting before the voice prompt to hit 1 definitely could have made my call time less than the minimum.

Anyway thanks for the clarification! Good to know for the future.
