I did this job when I was younger and It isnt very pleasant to be a call center rep but it does pay and if you actually get sales you earn a commision. The bad thing I didnt like was calling around dinner time cause I felt it was very disrespectful to the family or persons. So that would be my lunch break when I could. Try and stick with it after all you are gaining customer service skills and people skills that you can put on your resume.

I used to do tech support in a call center many years ago. I actually loved it. There were insane and rude people on the phone from time to time, and sometimes it could get very stressful when there were a lot of calls coming in, but I loved my co-workers and the atmosphere. I used to love it when I'd get someone on the phone who was truly upset and frantic over a computer issue, and I was able to get them working again.

Call center is not one that I have ever done, but I can imagine that it could truly feel redundant and maybe get boring after a while.  I don't know.  If it is steady pay, I may be able to deal with it, but I would not want anything that is just straight commission.  Were you calling out or were you taking incoming calls?  Did it stay busy? Were there totally dead moments or dead days?  I would have to consider that one.  Not only have I never done call center, but I have never had a desk job.  I can see the ups and downs, I guess.

I used to enjoy it. Especially when I was doing calls for St Jude, the animal shelters etc. It made me feel like I was making a difference. Working at a call center actually you can use your experience at home and to help others. For instance if you arent really interested in something on the phone I always say here's your 1st no, your 2nd no and your 3rd no. If they still keep trying here's your 4th have a nice day. Goodbye and hang up.

Wanted to be a call center representative or a customer service representative for a long time, finally got my chance. Wish I had done it much earlier in life. And I  used the money to start a home based business. Worked until 5pm at the center and had nights and weekends off for my business it was all great. While I worked at the various centers I won a few awards and met some nice people. Missed it when I when full time with my home based business.

we dont work on commission. we work at an hourly rate and we have incoming calls.. sometimes needing to send the customer to a different department when things are out of our hands. today i had 2 stupid ladies back to back that wouldnt shut up while i was trying to do something for them. question after question and didnt let me have any time to resolve each problem for them. she just did what she wanted and disregarded what i was saying to her. when i was getting help on her issues today she was still talking in my ear and it was very hard to listen to her and my helper at the same time. SHUT THE HELL UP and let me do what u asked me to do...and let me do it efficiently as i'm supposed to. it was very frustrating coz i couldnt do anything without her needing to have to talk. so i finally put her on hold so i could concentrate on her issue and my helper could walk me through things faster. i ended up needing to transfer one of them to a different department coz she was just getting on my nerves and i couldnt help her coz she kept changing what she was telling me that was going on. 30+ mins on a call is way too much time to put up with blabber mouths not letting u do ur job. OH.. ya'll i work for chase bank as a telephone banker.  we help people with their online accounts and other accounts they have with us. like, we can send them a new debit card over the phone, unlock accounts, and etc.  trust me there is a lot of stupid people that call in. i have never got cussed out yet but my co worker was told today to go to hell. who would say that when someone is trying to help them? like i said, stupid.

I've worked in a call center in the past as well.  It was brutal and I'm grateful that...

that's in the past.  Life is good when you earn doing things you enjoy!

Have a great day!

I enjoyed it when I worked at the call center. We would compare different calls with each other. The one I remember was a brain surgeon answering in the operating room. He thought I was calling him about the repairs on his high end car. He got mad when I asked him some questions about his recent repair visit. I thought he was the crazy one answering the phone while he was in the operating room.

I worked in an outgoing call center in college. We called for the office of admissions to high school and transfer students who were interested in our university, so it wasn't too bad since the people requested information. My wife, on the other hand, worked in a call center in college that called people on welfare asking how they were doing----not fun at all for her!!

Working at a call center sounds boring, and is not for everybody. A whole lot of patience is needed, along with the ability to disregard rude comments.  :)

Now you know why I like talking to people in call centers about how they can make easy money on the Internet without facing jerks all day long.
