One of the good habits that seems hard for me to accomplish even when I know the benefits.  Have to remind myself it is only 8 ounces not 16 or 20 per glass.

You just need to drink enough to make your pee a light yellow color.

I tried 8 glasses of water a day a couple of years ago but I thought I was going to float away.  It was just too much.  I only drink a couple of glasses a day now.

I drink about 8 glasses a day and have done so for quite awhile, but I am 6'5", so that may be a little much for some.

I'm just going to get straight to the point:

The idea that you need to drink 8 glasses of water a day is an absolute myth. The amount of water we need to intake varies from person to person. Here are some of the variables to take into consideratoin:

Body size
Climate
Health
Diet
Amount of exercise
Gender
Age
Weather
etc...

To think there is some rigid structure of how much water any person should intake is ludicrous. Drink if you're thirsty. If your urine is dark, drink more water untill it clears up. If it doesn't, then its a good idea to consult a doctor because you may have a health condition that requires you to drink more.

Also take into consideration the fact we take in a large portion of our fluids from solid food.

It's good to drink lots of fluid, especially water every day. It is very good for your skin. Just don't force yourself to drink if you're not that thirsty or feel too full. Your body needs different amounts of water every day depending on a lot of different things including what you eat. Some days I can't get enough water and others I don't have as much and that's normal

I really don't keep account of how much water I drink throughout the day but I sure do drink water everyday probably if I should estimate 2 bottle water, 3 of my big super sized cups, and 1 glass after breakfast sometimes, if not then I drink a glass at bedtime!!!

I don't drink eight glasses of water per day but I think I drink around five or six glasses per day.

I have always had bad skin. Annoying, I am in mid 30's and I still get really bad breakouts. I cannot pinpoint if drinking more water helps or if my skin clears up a bit when I eat better. For me, the two usually go hand in hand.

In this day and age, I cannot believe there isn't a solution yet for bad skin.

I can't drink 8 glasses of water in a day anyway. I make enough pit stops to the restroom as it is. As to acne this can be also be triggered by things beyond what you eat. Water is a good cleanser, but it's not the end all cure all.

I have heard this but I think it's better to have more than not enough. I think that to many people just get a soda or some other unhealthy alternative when they are thirsty and go for days without actually drinking any pure water. It can cure a lot of things so I think it's a good first step if you're feeling sore or like you may be getting sick. If you develope something like that from not drinking enough then I think it will take a little longer for your system to correct itself.

When I started reading this thread, I ran to get my water bottle. I needed to drink a few more ounces for the day.  My chiropractor asks me every visit if I have been keeping up with my water intake.  He recommends the same as BK_Adores_Chase's uncle -- that you drink in ounces, half your body weight.  I have actually accomplished that today, and I hope my body appreciates my efforts!

I would highly recommend getting a set of bottles so that you can accurately keep track of how much you drink.  I tried just refilling the one I was using, but I would always lose track.  I then started with a few different bottles so I could have them in the fridge while I drank one so I would always have cold water and I could accurately keep track.  I really need to go back to doing that again.
