Christmas is around the corner
« on: September 18, 2012, 08:08:51 pm »
Christmas!

I have been planning on using my FC earnings, along with some other sites I make money with, for Christmas shopping for our three kids. It may not cover all of the expenses, but it will definitely help out a great deal, especially if I start now and get few items here and there with each payment I receive.

How about you guys?

Definitely. This month my earnings are going towards Christmas present supplies. I'm making home made candles in antique tins and mason jars this year. I've been teaching myself to make candles since the summer, and have it down pretty good now with balancing out wax, color and the amount of scented oils.

My test candles all are burning evenly and they last a good long time too. I hate it when I buy scented candles in the stores that smell great, but after a few days burning there's no scent left, so I've been playing around with the amount of oil so that the scent stays, but isn't overpowering.

That is so cool! I've always wanted to make my own candles. They do make great gifts and even cooler if you can make some money selling them. How did you get into it and where do you get the supplies? I'd like to try it out for fun at least so I can make some candles for our home.

I think it is great when you can make a product and sell it. Right now i am painting gourds for an arts and crafts fair. Have also made candles, angels, watermelon rind pickles, breads, cookies, and a whole lot of other things. I do so enjoy going to craft fairs, but selling at them is even better. I am retired so it is a way of keeping my hands busy and my mind. Good luck  on your candles.

For me, Christmas is ALWAYS around the corner. 2 kids, husband, parents, extended family members, I even buy things for our dogs! My Fusioncash earnings will definitely be used for some of my Christmas shopping, but I don't earn enough to cover everything.

I have already started some of my Christmas shopping too.  It will be here before we know it!  Luckily Kmart still has layaway.   Walmart does this year too but only for toys, electronics, jewerly and some sporting goods.

I am using my FC $$ for Christmas gifts for my 3 youngest grandkids.   Like the original poster said, it won't cover everything, but it sure will help!  Gotta LOVE FC!!

When you have three kids like me, it is around the corner because buying presents get expensive and christmas shopping needs to start early enough to be able to afford it.

I thought about trying to sell them on eBay or Etsy after the holidays are over. We have a gigantic family, plus the neighbors on my street all leave presents for each other too, so I've got a ton to make before I start to think about that.

I got into it because I started with the handmade presents last year (I did cookie and bread mixes in decorated mason jars), and didn't want to do the same thing this year.

For the wax burner, I just got an old double boiler from Goodwill that I use for wax only. I get the antique tins and jars from various thrift stores, yard sales, flea markets, antique stores, etc. Usually I get them for about $0.50 to $1.00 each. I get the wax, wicks and oils right now from Peak Candle, but I'm always on the lookout for other places to buy the wax from because the shipping can be a bit high. I'm pricing out other options for my next big wax shipment.

Yes it is getting closer. So is my son's birthday. He was born two days before Christmas. Christmas shopping is a great way to spend your survey earnings, but I plan to use mine for emergencies in case we ever need extra money for anything. Since I found a new job things are getting right again so we will be able to have a pretty good Christmas this year. For my son's birthday this year, I put a Nintendo DSi and two games on layway. He is going to go nuts.
