There isn't a fee when you use greendot at all.You do have to purchase a Moneypak for greendot to activate it though.

Perhaps you need to read their TOS. Greendot DOES have a monthly maintenance fee of $5.95 OR Pay No Monthly Charge in any month that you have at least 30 purchases post to your Card or load $1,000. https://www.greendot.com/greendot/about-our-products

I was pretty sure there were fees attached to the Green Dot card. I just know if there were any for direct deposit. I prefer Paypal. It is 100% free and it is the perfect way to save money in case of emergencies.

There are always fees associated with prepaid cards. They have to make money too. Be nice if there was no fees.

There are always fee's on those pre-paid visa cards also. Kind-of stinks.

I got a GD prepay and found out about the fees later on.  Am really glad I didn't put any money on it as since it is hard enough to come by without maintenance fees added!

The Green Dot card I had just expired. There was a fee to purchase, a monthly fee to maintain it, a fee to reload it and sometimes a fee to use it. after those fees who has money.    PayPal has a Master Card credit card, I wonder what happens if you don't qualify for it. Do they have a Master Card debit card? You can get a check, but if you use check cashing places another fee. Some online banks offer free debit cards, which can be used with PayPal.
