I think it depends on the definition.  I call them sandals cause of the strap that goes straight across my foot. Generally I consider flip flops to be the ones where the strap connects to the bottom of the shoe between the big toe and second toe.

I use flip flops around the house but I like sandals (with ankle strap) for outdoor or shopping excursions and swimming at the river. They are a lot more practical and don't hurt your feet after a couple of hours wearing them.

Flip flops totally especially the cute/comfy/dressy ones. I have bunions so sandals generally hurt my feet, but flip flops feel great

I love flip flops.  I practically live in them all year round and I live in OK. They are easy to slip on quickly and I can buy them in almost every color to match my outfits.  The price of flip flops fits my budget. I buy pretty ones for dress up and plain ones for everyday use.

I like flip flops. They're usually cheaper and they fall apart quicker, so I can go buy new ones more often!

I see many Asian people wear Flip Flops, I wear those at home only.

Sandals are good to go to the park or just during the summer hot days. Winter is boot, and closed shoes
