Winter Clothing
« on: August 26, 2012, 07:26:58 am »
I know it's the end of August, and I know stores have to stock, but it's 86 degrees today and I went shopping yesterday and the stores had all winter clothing out.  Could not fine one piece of summer if my life depended.  Actually I saw some Thanksgiving nick nacks out - a little too early don't you think?

I remember last year in the winter I was trying to find some short sleeve shirts to go under sweaters  and all I could find was winter clothing, finally had to go to Goodwill instead.  I don't mind the decorations out early for any holidays, but I think they have a certain "schedule" of new arrivals no matter on what the weather is doing outside....Although most people don't mind seeing stores coming out with summer items say in Feburary most people are ready for spring to get here so it reminds them it will be here shortly.

Sometimes I like that they put out the next season's clothing early, because they then clearance all the current season's styles.
At the same time though, it sucks when you go in wanting to get a swim suit, but they have all the heavy coats out.

They are getting worse year after year. You maybe saw Fall Items and school items at the beginning of August, now they are having winter items out in the Summer. They think that this is going to sell?? I think it is turning people off the the point they are not buying. The whole world has gone upside down.

It seems like every year they get it out sooner and sooner. I worked for a large dept. store and we would do year end inventory the last 3 days of sept. and the 1st of oct. would unload and start putting up Christmas. Too me it is just too soon. The end of July and first of Aug. is usually the time too get all summer clothes on sale.

Years ago in my College days, I worked for a big Dept Store. I learned the best time to buy winter clothes is in the summer, the best time to buy summer clothes is in the winter. Sales Sales. But sometimes our minds are not thinking that way.

It's the time of the year where they start to put all the summer clothes in the sales rack so here's a savings tip: Buy summer clothes in the winter and winter clothes in the summer! I've done that for so many years and managed to save myself from retail prices. I mean.. a jacket for $50 in the winter compared to a jacket for $15 in the summer? That's one heck of a deal!

We are less than a month away from the beginning of Fall.  There should be some summer clothing sales out there somewhere.

With winter things being put out, that means the summer things will go on clearance which is when I usually buy.  Am NOT looking forward to cold weather...
