I read the title of this thread and thought it was a joke. This is an absolutely preposterous claim.
That man was obviously sick and had a serious problem to cause his actions.
"Satan" had nothing to do with it.
If "Satan" did exist, he would be too busy with other things to worry about something menial like causing a man to shoot in a theater.
Since you want to make it about religion, the fault really goes on "God" since he "created" that man to be sick and dangerous.

Regarding your last sentence, the fundies have asserted that the whackjob has "free will" in order to dodge any 'deital' responsibility.  It's really a moot point anyway since the premise, ("g-d *created* anything), is presumptive and without tangible evidence.

You're telling me things I'm already aware of.
I just felt that maybe if I pointed things out from "their side of the fence" they would see that there is no way to blame anything for this man's actions besides his own mind.

I understand however, the faith-blinded are unable to *see* their inherent blind-spot in that regard, (invalid attribution of cause & effect).

No not the movie. Some people are just mean.

I blame the person not the movie. If 1 out of 1,000,000 people who saw the movie commit crimes that is a pretty small statistic and really shouldn't be looked at as proof that these movies cause crimes to be committed.

No.  It's the person's responsibility to watch whatever they are watching (or for that matter reading or listening to) critically.  If popular culture itself is enough to create evil, then we would see a whole lot more coming from a whole lot of things that are far worse than Batman. 

I personally found Batman Begins with its two competing views of justice really intellectually stimulating.  Overall, there seems to be much more good than evil in the Batman movies and the latest trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan is incredibly well done.  I would commend them to just about anyone.

i think anything in the media that is evil has the potential to provoke people to do bad things whether movies tv or music.
