The going rate is about $12+ an hour. Check on the Care.Com and Sittercity websites, that might give you a better idea. Good luck!

I imagine the rate is also dependent on where you live.....urban vs rural USA.

I googled "what is going rate for elder care" and the results gave me choices to find out
the rate for where I live in rural Minnesota.

I made $13.50 an hour on one client and 10.25 on a couple others when i was working in home care, plus the company was charging  more on top of what i was being paid. folks it isn'tcheap, but when you figure how much the nursing homes charge. $( 5500.00 for aunti and was going up). We were able to take care of her until she fell and broke her hip in several places. Then too the nursing home. I wasn't strong enough to be manhandleing her, even with the proper equipement. The nursing home took every bit of what she had ($300,00.00) before we culd get any help from the state. .You need to check with human services too see if you qualifiy for help.

I agree with "jkhanson" - check out the websites for your area to give you some indication. $15 a day!!!!! This daughter is soooooooooooo taking advantage of you!!! I get paid $12 per hour and my Alzheimer's lady is just starting with the incontinence thing. It is very hard work to care for a person with this disease and that is not even taking into account the frustration, the repetitive conversation (if there is any) and the 24/7 constant care. I hope your employer reconsiders and realizes just how badly she is treating you with this pittance.

I think it goes by State. Yes, it depends on that State and what people are willing to pay for that type of work.

No one can make a living on $15 per day! Maybe, if you would like to call her bluff, tell her that you need, say, $50 per day or you will look for work somewhere else...... Maybe she catches a wake-up call when she has to look after the patient herself.....(or find someone else at a much higher price). Hang in there girl, fair is fair after all.

Please keep me posted as to what the outcome of her prayers are....! I hope the message she gets is that she has been taking advantage of you in a big way and she should make it up to you. Also, well done on being brave enough to let her know   :notworthy:  .....it is hard to give up a job, even if it pays peanuts. If she doesn't come through for you then I hope you get a much better job with a decent pay!

That outcome can be safely predicted as 'none'.  Anything attributed to such superstitious rituals is done so via belief without evidence.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Hey Falcon, I said that tongue in cheek! I've been in a couple of situations in the past where the other person "had to pray about it".....it was only a ruse not to make a decision and own up.
