I agree, as soon as they can hold their head up you can take baby in the pool with you. I think most places start mommy and me lessons at a minimum of 6 months, but you can take them in with you earlier than that. Just keep them close so they feel secure, and make sure the water's not too cold!

Thanks for the comments on the swimming. New question though: I have been talking to my baby and sometimes I will read my college lectures to him because he like to hear me talking, should I read the college lectures to him or find something else?

If you are swimming at a swimming pool where you are actually standing up in water, then I think you can take him swimming now.  Your approach to his swimming will make a difference.  Having you express the fun and confidence you have and gently playing with him in the water will make him confident.

We took our kids swimming when they were babies and tots.  They loved it.  One of them was even jumping off the high diving board at 3 years old.

Reading to your baby is awesome.  What you read to him at 2 months old probably isn't going to be that important right now.  He will benefit from your attention to him and your voice inflection so I would suggest that you read something besides college lectures to him.

Reading children's stories to him using different voices and actions will stimulate him.  Reading time is also a great bonding time for you both!  Keep it up!!
