air conditioners for apartments

The maintenance rep in our building said that the new air conditioners are noisier than the older ones.
I learned something today.

We have central and air for our house. A few weeks ago, our air conditioner went out and we baked for three days. My husband's sister bought us some window units. The keep the house a lot colder than our central air ever did. Now the summer heat is starting to cool down, I turn them off so that it isn't so cold and to save energy. My husband comes in a says it's too hot and cranks it back up all the way. I feel like I need a parka.

i just have a simple window ac from walmart it works for the room it's in and kind of for the rest of the house so we just stay in the one room lol can't move it to another room cause how our windows are decided (they slide side ways to open) it only fits in the master bedrooms window

:) I have central air in my house...& yeah after you have it on for awhile your hands and feet feel like ice cubes... so then i have to shut it off for awhile...it's  just gets  too cold...& i don't really dig air conditioners because i usually catch a cold from using them...I rather stick with my central air it never gave me a cold or anything...My mom from up North came down by me & stayed for a week and caught a cold becuz of my central air...she wasn't use to it...I thank god for my central air conditioning, without it would feel like we were living out in a desert... :peace: :peace: :peace:

I know the wall units I had in my apartments were fairly quiet but they only really cooled down the living room still hotter than hell in the rest of the place.

we're in a townhouse and have a wall unit downstairs
and one in the upstairs master bedroom. the bedroom
one is under the window...which is kinda stupid? the
air flow from it is kinda pointless. if it were up on the
wall, it would be perfect. the one downstairs does a
decent job and only runs us about $60/month during
the summer.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]
