I like alot of Nora Roberts, but have to say my favorite author would be.....Any Autobiography!  That way the author is the actual character also.

Then look up my book!  Multiple Sclerosis: A Blessing in Disguise!  It how I viewed the fact that I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 20 years ago now!

Other then that, Stephen King can write, if you can look past the gore of it all.

Gail Sheehy.  She wrote "Passages," "Pathfinders," among others.  "Pathfinders" is the best book I have ever read.  I need to read it again!

Stephen King joins John Grisham for authors that I enjoy when I go on vacation, need a quick read, and don't want to tax my mind too much.  I love F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway.  I spent all of my college electives on literature classes involving those two authors.  Decoding metaphors and similes made the reading so enjoyable.  I was kind of bummed that you couldn't make a decent living with a major/bachelor's degree in literature.  Voltaire and Shakespeare took it to the next level but make it more difficult to sit down reading for long periods of time.

My favorit author is Marry Higgins Clark.  I my stories to be a little romance, thriller, and mysterious.  I use to read a lot when I was able to read until my mid teens than I just didn't have time to read so I have not read a entire book in a while.
