I never knew it is dangerous to stop smoke suddently. You can gradually cut down the cigarettes little at time and little at day, and later can consider use nicotine patch when come to complete stop smoke. Be sure you don't have any allergery for nicotine patch...good luck

Your body is addicted to nicotine so there could be some adverse reactions.
Usually it is better to taper off addictions rather than quit cold turkey.
With that said, I know many people who have quit smoking cold turkey and been fine.
It all depends what the mind and body can handle.

My father quit cold turkey after smoking for almost 50hrs.  I just got up on morning after retiring and said "I am done with things".  Picked up the pack and threw them in the trash.  My mom quit after she retired, but she did it gradually.  They have both since passed away, but I have to give them credit that they quit.  Goodluck to anyone who is in the process of quitting.

I quit cold turkey after smoking 2 packs a day in 1964 and have had no negative results to my health from that decision, only positive ones (I will be 74 in a couple of weeks). However, my two younger siblings died from the result of smoking at 58 and 65 years old. One from lung cancer and the other from COPD.
