It seems as whenever I go shopping, the prices are never stable.  I almost hate to go anymore.  If only we didn't have to eat, how much money we could have!

Everybody is talking about prices going up, in some cases they are, but the fundamental idea of prices going up is incorrect.  What's really happening is that your dollar is worth less year after year, that's the real problem.  Prices for certain products can go up and down, like for a barrel of crude oil, coffee is another example.  If the price of everything is increasing, it means that your currency is worth less and less every year, and that's what you should really be worrying about.

I shop at Grocery Outlet and use coupons to shop.  I also kick my husband out to go fishing every fishing season.  And my brother helps out with hunt for deer and elk when he can go hunting.

I watch for sales and mark downs. We have a store here where you get 4 or 5 (can't recall which right now ) packs of various meats for less than $20. it'll have say a pack of hamburger about 2 1/2 -3 pounds, maybe some chicken leg quarters about 4-6 pieces, or maybe some chicken breast strips, some kind of pork and maybe a couple of round steaks or stew meat.

Even if it wasn't a drought they would find a way for meat and the prices for everything else to go up. Anyway I tend to eat less meat and more fruits and vegetables.

Groceries have become ridiculously expensive over the last few years to the point where gas & groceries are as much as our house payment. In the meatime our income has actually gone down.  I do utilize stores like Grocery Outlet and Aldi's.  View internet ads to get the weekly specials and utilize coupons for further savings.  Doing much more research and following blogs dedicated to frugal shopping and lower cost but healthy recipes.  Careful planning is essential.  A lot of people I know are growing their own vegetables and canning/freezing.  Sales tend to go in cycles.  Keeping a price book for comparison also helps.  Fortunately we have two major stores within a  mile of one another which means I can get the specials at each without wasting gas to save a few cents.

Food prices here in Canada are going up as the gas prices rise higher and higher. Current gas prices here range from $1.20 to $1.30 per Liter, which is well over 4 dollars a gallon.

Coupons is what saves me, they really add up at the end of the month. This month I got baby wipes for free.
