I've got to get a root canal next week has anyone ever had one before? is it painful?

Sory to teoll you but I hate root canals.  They dope up your mouth so it isn't painful, but I get so tired of hold my mouth open.  ::)

i don't think they're painful they will give you enough novicane but it takes awhile. after a little sore but not to bad,will take almost an hour that is what iv'e hated.

    I have never had to have a  roort canal!! and I of course really hope that I never need to get a  roort canal  :wave:

The shot is the only painful part, really.  The annoying part is the length of time having to keep your mouth open.  So the further back the tooth, probably the more sore your mouth will be afterwards.  It's all worth it in the end, though, because the pain is so much worse when you don't get it fixed.

I had oneand the only pain was the shot. It felt like the needle was going WAY too far dowm.
Afterwards there was really no real PAIN, nothing tylenol did not handle.
I have been told that if you already have a tooth infection that it is a lot worse
