When is an answer or reply to a question an EXCUSE?

Sometimes when I am asked a question and give a reply I am told that my answer sounds like an excuse.

I guess it depends on the question, and what your answer was. If they asked you why you did something, or said something, or felt a certainway, you answer might be an excuse, or at least sound like one. Some people don't take into consideration that othes have valid problems, and they just think it is an excuse.
