If you were to fill out a job application and it asked for your SSN, would you give it? I did once before, but now I feel reluctant to give it in the future unless I know I will be hired.

I don't actually fill out many job applications, but if one asks for it, I fill it out.

I've worked in HR in the past, and any incomplete applications were immediately disregarded, so I am hesitant to leave blanks.

Thank you for your valuable input. I will bear this in mind.  :)

Speaking of SSN I noticed that on a few of the bank card offers they want you to put it in. Thats kind of scarry! I didn't know if it was a good move to put it in like that. Anybody else have any hesitation on it?

Yes I give it.  I'm not hiding anything and I'm not too concerned about identity theft.

I would place my SS number on an application because they might think I was trying to hide something.

I would not give out my Social Security Number unless it is  important paper.

I never give my SS# unless absolutely needed. I never put job application. I will provide when hired. Identity theft is a huge problem and I will make it as hard as I can for someone to steal mine! :peace:

For a job application and other important papers then yes, for anything else I'm a little hesitant.

Isn't it a requirement to fill in your SS number on a job application? If you want to get paid when your hired they will need your social number.

I use my SS number online when doing debit card offers, ONLY when the site has a safe lock. Worked fine for me so far.

Job applications almost always ask for your SSN. They'd actually be pretty remiss if they didn't, because they need that information to do a background check before they consider you a candidate for employment. If you don't give them that information, it's easy to assume that either your info isn't legit or you have something to hide.

Just make sure you're applying to REAL reputable companies and not just some possible fraud posted on Craigslist. Do your research first and you'll be fine!

I once gave a sandwich shop my ssn. I wish I hadn't after I turned it in. Not because anything happened but because it was a real small ma and pa place and didn't know anyone there.  It would definitely depend on the company.   :dontknow:

I always fill out my ssn on my job applications. However, I am hesitant to give it out other places, such as the new $.20 offer under the video section.
