Learning how to play the Sax
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:53:14 pm »
I've always wanted to learn, but wheni joined band, there were
no more sax spots.

So this summer i want to ask the band teacher at my school to see if i can borrow 1.
Fingers crossed..

but i feel like i'll be completely lost.

My daughter started playing the french horn but decided she didn't like it. So we got her a flute she picked right up on it. So I know you will do great you must have at least some ideas how to play already I'm sure. Good luck and keep up the good work.

I played the clarnet in the band when I was in school.  I enjoyed it so much.  I wanted to play the sax when I started but the band teacher said he had enough sax's so I took up the clarnet.  I started in the six grade so I had 6 years in the band.  Those were the good old days.  Hope everyone have a good day and may God bless each of you.

I state off with the clarinet and absolutely hated it. Then I tried the soprano saxophone and fell in love(that was in fourth grade).  I went to music lessons every Saturday as I eventually evolved through alto saxophone to tenor saxophone. When I was in seventh grade I was playing union gigs for theShrinrs and both band an orchestra at the high school.  I was first chair in the all-state band and the all state orchestra and was invited to play in the all-state jazz band but declined because I was in so many other music engagements.  My favorite saxophone was the baritone...loved playing the bass parts. In my Junior year, the tenor saxophone that I played was taken by my father in retribution for the divorce from my mother, and I never played again.
