Anyone able to see the Venus Transit?

I really wanted to see the Venus transit but it was way too cloudy and raining most of the day. Anyone here have any luck with it?

I saw it on the news!  The pictures were great, and better then with my naked eye!  (PLUS, I didn't have to wear sunscreen to see it!)

It was cloudy where I lived too, plus had to perform at a concert - sun was mostly down by the time the concert was over.

I did log onto NASA's website and watched as much as I could from their live streaming event.  Listening to the scientists giddy as school kids as Venus ingressed was awesome - I was pretty giddy myself watching the incredible images from SDO.

For anyone who missed it, NASA posted a great video showing several views of the event captured from SDO in the various wavelengths.  And for anyone who is curious about why Venus sometimes looks transparent/translucent - it's due to optical "ghosting" effect when the SDO buffers/sensors didn't completely clear before taking the next picture.  The craft did not take "video", these are individual pictures strung together to make a "video" of the event (lots 'o pictures).

Dang I missed both this and the solar eclipse.  Glad that the NASA folks and JPL keep their pictures online.

I'd search for experimental evidence that putting sunscreen in one's eyes is worse than looking directly at the sun to see the Venus transit however, common sense prevailed.

It was cloudy and raining all day yesterday. On my facebook that seemed to be happening to a lot of my friends who are in various parts of the US. I'll have to look at the pics later.

I only saw in the news. I briefly took a quick glance in the direction of the sun, but I didn't have any sunshades to begin with so I guess this wouldn't have mattered. I guess I'll need to wait another 100+ years.
