Sewing Kick
« on: May 20, 2012, 02:56:45 pm »
I am on a sewing kick lately and wanted to see if anyone else here sews much and what you sew.

I recently made a corset, and I am working on a terry cloth cat and I am going to start a 1 hour skirt next! Also I bought material for a Thomas the Tank quilt for my son who is going to turn 2 at the end of the month!

What are you sewing? or crafting?

Yes I love to sew!!!  My (Purely Simple Designs) are on Etsy.   I was sewing alot until my Daddy got so sick last winter.  Since his passing I have started creating a little more and trying to make plans to get back into stocking my little online shop.  I make pincushions, welding hats, Owls, wallets, sewing kits, glasses cases, pot holders, COASTERS  (my specialty)  and many other little accessories.  Glad to know there are others out there that love to create!

I haven't done much sewing since my mom passed away a few years ago.  Her and I used to make quilts together.  I am now making beaded lite-up items.  I make santas, snowmen, witches, pumpkins, easter eggs, bunnies, ducks, litehouses, teddy bears.  Also make fabric garland for every holiday, plus sport teams color. Working on a 20ft garland with Green Bay Packer material right now. Keeps me busy, which helps being I don't work outside of home.  Good luck to you with your projects

I love to crochet baby blankets as gifts for friends who are expecting. Wish I could sew all the beautiful items everyone has mentioned. One day I will learn.

I'm finishing up a knitted baby blanket, also have begun knitting hats and scarves for my church's collection project in December.  (Yes, I know it's May.  What's your point?)     Truth is I try to turn in at least 50 items, so--gotta get an early start!

I also love to sew. Last halloween, I made myself and my daughter's outfits, it was alot of work, but making it look authentic by your own hand is the best feeling in the world!!

That's awesome I will try and find your store. I have thought so many times about selling stuff on etsy, but I wasn't sure how original my stuff was and how hard it would be to sell.
I would love to be able to make some extra income with my creations but it will have to wait till after my move this summer.
