The Queen of Disco is dead.

Donna Summer died Thursday morning after succumbing to a long battle with cancer, TMZ.com reported. She was 63.

Born in Boston on New Year's Eve 1948, Summers came to define the sound of late '70s and early '80s radio with hits including "Last Dance", "Bad Girls" and "She Works Hard for The Money".

The five-time Grammy winner leaves behind a husband, songwriter Bruce Charles Sudano, and three daughers, Mimi, Brooklyn and Amanda Grace.

Sources told TMZ that the singer was trying to complete an album at the time of her death.

Donna Summer had a GREAT voice. Her duet with Barbra Streisand was amazing. Donna was underrated as a singer because she came to popularity in the disco era. She was pegged as "Queen of Disco," which was too bad in a way because she had so much more to offer than that. RIP, Donna Summer.

RIP donna!!! Cancer is knocking us out left and right. Wasn't it last month MCA from the Beastie boys died from cancer???

I couldn't believe it. I didn't know she was sick. Her music was one the best in the Disco era. I remember as a kid dancing to her songs. Many years ago I bought Donna Summer's greatest hits CD. Then, as the years went by I lost it. A few years ago when I moved to a new home I opened an unmarked box and there it was. The CD was still like new. I added the songs to my mp3 player and from time to time I would listen to her music. Rest in peace and may God receives you in His arms.
