Do you have a bestfriend and are there any limits?
« on: May 05, 2012, 07:35:10 am »
My bestfriend and I have been friends for over 12 years. We have gone through a lot together.
Recently I felt like our relationship took a wrong turn. I had loan her some money. As soon as
she got paid she acted as though I had two head or something. Does friends really have to fight
over money?

I dont think i have any limits but just money i try not involve with money and friends it just doesnt ever end good one of my family friends have always told me "if you want to see your true friends give them money" and its true just try not to ever give money i mean thats a problem for me i give out money and a lot of time dont get back and i would never ask back at least its always just pocket money i mean i know it all adds up but at least im not giving out thousands on end wish you luck good luck hope it doesnt ruin your friendship, sometimes its just choosing your battles do you want to just ignore to try to save your friendship but its that a real friendship if you never speak up and now a days people need every cent good luck

I always saw that when money comes in btwen it breaks friendship. There are only two ways to keep relation better - 1) Dont lend the money to friends (a small amount here and there is fine) when it come to large one, just say upfront - I dont want to ruin relationship because of this.
2) Else If your friend is more important than money or friend is everything for you then when you lend it forget about money.. Give it in a way that it wont come back.. If it comes back, its good else it should not hurt you

One of my best friends worked with me. Yesterday was her last day after 17 years, very emotional.

i have always, always heard to never again expect to see the
money you've lent someone...that it ruins friendships.
despite this though, i would still trust my best friend to
return it because she just has very good values and would
expect the same from me. i just can't see her not repaying
me, even if it was a little at a time or something.

now, my good friends? i could kiss the money goodbye, and i
know that! lol.

sorry you're going through that. people will always take that
mile when you give an inch  :(

I wouldnt have any problem loaning my closest friends money. I guess I wouldn't expect it back and when ever it returned or even if it didnt, its only money. Its only money, helping my friend would be more important. I'm sorry this seems to be making your relationship different.

A long time ago I had a best friend but she turned out to be a bit of a backstabbing friend.....not too good....since then I have friends but thats it!   I now consider my husband to be my bestfriend.

Unfortunately, when money is involved, it can always cause conflict, even with best friends. So what I try to live by is never lend any money I can't live without. Not that I don't want to be paid back, but if the friend can't or won't, then I've already partially mentally reconciled it as a gift to a friend who was in need. If the friend simply won't pay it back, then I quietly note that, and either don't give them any more money, or definitely give them far less next time.

I don't have any best friends.  I am friendly with others. I was hurt many years ago by a so called best friend.  I stopped trusting others after that and with good cause.  It has happened on other occasions also.  Humans can't be trusted.

Never do that again. Never loan money to friends. They either won't pay you back or they think because you are friends they have the right to take unfair advantage of you. Never trust that they will repay you! Don't get involved with that it's always a headache. :peace:
