Why do ppl do drugs

I really always wonder what ppl get out of doing drugs...I have tried weed and hated it and that is all i have ever tried had an ex who did weed, mushrooms, coke, and anything else he could... that is why he is my ex drug use destroys lifes and I will never be put in a situation where I have to watch someone waste their life and the others around them...and they dont think anything is wrong with it and you should understand. What do you think about this???

I think everyone wants to escape reality from time to time. Unfortunately, the ways we do it vary greatly. I can't understand addiction because my brain is not wired that way. I can grasp the concept of escaping the world with a buxx so you don't have to think but I don't do it. For me the best way to escape for a while is a good bok or music. I can easily get sucked into those things and forget for awhile.
We do have to understand that everyone is different and try to work with that. I had a smoke once tell me about addiction and he said, "Would you say you are addicted to breathing? Then try to stop breathing one day and you may understand why it is a hard thing to do."

Drugs i think are really bad for people it messes up their life like friendships you get atticted to it and can't stop and want more then your health gets worse smoking is even more bad if you smoke to many packs in one day you could get cancer. My friends mom smoked alot and she would really cough bad cause of her lungs and smoking it took her life she died in her sleep one day i think her heart gave out.

Seriously, I think that drugs make us feel / think differently than in our normal lives. It is a way to escape our normal thoughts and thus escape our lives. Unfortunately many of the problems occur because of substance abuse, so ultimately they cause more problems and don't solve anything.

Reality can be really a downer sometimes, and life, even when it's good, can be a little mundane. That's why a lot of people turn to drugs.

To escape the harsh reality of the world probably.  That is how I think of it at least.  Escape mechanisms.  They just alter your mindset.  So if your normal mindset is harmful, such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder, I always wonder what the big problem is?

I'm going with most of the people on here, to escape reality. They probably think it's an easy coping mechanism.

I think that insecurity and low self-esteem have a lot to do with drug use.  Either you have an excuse for not being good at something('because I was high) or you indulged too heavily in the euphoria that comes with many drugs. I think that some people have a genetic disposition that pushes them towards substance abuse.  I think that others start off small and when they can't achieve the high that they got with one substance (even alcohol) they move on to something more potent which starts a whole downward spin as they become more and more dependant on the high.  Pretty soon they lose touch with reality and close off all sources of help.

well when you are hooked on drugs its not easy its like getting over an ex or a loved one that just t it takes you so far it takes all the pain away and putpassed, you have control bus you in a total diffrent world its actually lovely but not good at all i'm 5 years clean from herion,weed, and cigarrets and i actually love my life i done all these drugs to get over my brothers murder which was devistating i can't believe i made it throught the funeral. But once your on it you go through he@@ trying to get off of it it is really hard take my advice you don't want to do drugs you get hated by everyone they don't trust you in when your sick kicking your legs because they hurt so bed they won't give you money . Stay away from any drug they're no gfood please.
