nfl draft

So the nfl draft is here and I'm a little confused. Can anyone explain to me why some of these players demand such a high paying contract before they play. What happened with the honor of just being drafted? Take what they offer the first year and prove yourself.

That's not how it works unfortunately.  While I agree with your principle it simply doesn't work that way.  The precedent was set years ago when they top overall picks demanding high salaries or they would threaten to walk away.  Team ultimately decided to pay that money.  Once it happened once then others followed suit and demanded the same thing as well.

BEcause that is what the market can pay.....honor has nothing to do with it.

Obviously the Saints have proved that. Money apparently is more important then honor.

What happened to NFL players still having jobs and football was extra? I know they work hard but do they really deserve the ridiculous amount of money they receive? They're entertainer who work out. I like watching the sport but think the money is crazy.
